PART 1: Foundations of Somatic Psychedelic Preparation - Theory and Foundations

• Developing a theoretical orientation to Somatic Psychedelic Assisted Therapies (PAT)

• Understanding the core principles of somatic psychology, and the rationale for its suitability as a therapeutic approach for psychedelic-assisted therapy as a process-oriented approach that engages with direct experience

• Science of mindfulness/embodiment and intersection with psychedelic science and practice

• Developing a holistic and transpersonal framework for psychedelic facilitation

• Understanding clinical and ceremonial contexts for PAT - similarities and differences

• Listening for and assessing integration needs, which may include: normalizing, metabolizing, regulation, meaning-making, supporting connections and community building, transpersonal/spiritual needs, and creating an action plan to bring their insights to life

• Learning the foundations of Embodied Integration, including Applying Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle, supporting integration needs with bottom-up processing, somatic anchoring, and accessing somatic intelligence

No, this is an integrated curriculum co-created by the faculty. The faculty are colleagues in this program. They are working together to make sure each individual module is cohesive with the entire curriculum. Every teacher is informed about what is coming before and what is coming after and integrating their curriculum based on that information.

Is this a theoretical or practical (experiential) program?

While some theory will be presented to support the learning, the primary focus of the practice is experiential, giving practical tools for the participants.

  • Completed the Self Evaluation & Reflection forms for each module.
  • Completed 10 hours of Practice Coaching Sessions outside of class times and reach out to another student in the program and have a meaningful conversation about the program.

While the program provides a robust foundation, participants are responsible for navigating the regulatory and legal aspects of their care provision. We encourage practicing within a community framework, fostering collaboration and discouraging isolated practices.

This program caters to a diverse audience, including licensed therapists and unlicensed practitioners; however, it is vital to recognize that completion of this program is not a final destination but a stepping stone, and ongoing effort and learning are essential for ethical and effective somatic psychedelic facilitation.

Will Continuing Education hours (CEs) be offered?

CE’S with the American Psychological Association (APA) 48 hours of Continuing Education for Health Professionals were available for this program. Please note: *Live* attendance was required. Below is more information on the health professionals which may be eligible for CEs through the Spiritual Competency Academy (SCA) which is co-sponsoring this program.

  • CE hours for psychologists are provided by the Spiritual Competency Academy (SCA) which is co-sponsoring this program. The Spiritual Competency Academy is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Spiritual Competency Academy maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
