Beyond One Model: Integrative Tools and Techniques for Trauma Treatmentw/ Dr. Frank Anderson
Trauma treatment rarely follows a straight path. An intervention that is helpful in one moment may be ineffective—or even destabilizing—in another. In this workshop, Dr. Frank Anderson presents a flexible, integrative framework for working with complex trauma. Rather than relying on a single methodology, participants will learn to assess what is happening in the therapeutic process in real time and select interventions that match a client’s current capacity, needs, and level of stability. Grounded in a non-pathologizing approach, Dr. Anderson explores how trauma responses are shaped by nervous system adaptation, attachment history, and protective internal dynamics. Participants will learn to track shifts in arousal, dissociation, emotional activation, and relational engagement while maintaining therapeutic presence, safety, and alliance. The workshop will also explore the clinical value of embodying parts, helping clients access and work with protective responses through bodily sensations, emotions, impulses, and felt experience rather than relying solely on verbal or cognitive processing. Drawing from parts-informed, polyvagal, somatic, attachment-focused, and other trauma-informed approaches, Dr. Anderson will demonstrate practical strategies for working with reactivity, shutdown, dissociation, extreme responses, and patterns that can interfere with connection and treatment progress. Particular attention will be given to how and when to integrate different therapeutic approaches, including how to determine whether a client is ready for deeper processing or whether the clinical priority is stabilization, regulation, connection, or increased capacity. Participants will explore how different approaches can complement one another while remaining responsive to the individual client rather than following a predetermined protocol. Participants will leave with a clearer clinical map for sequencing stabilization, processing, and integration, along with concrete tools for adapting treatment to the individual needs of each client—including ways to work experientially and somatically with embodied protective responses—to support greater safety, connection, and lasting change.

At the Edge of Change: What You Didn't Know about the Remarkable Felt Sensew/ Dr. Ann Weiser Cornell
A felt sense happens in a moment, a special moment when frozen structures become available for transformation. Yet what felt senses are, and how to work with them, is widely misunderstood. Even somatic therapies don't always include felt sensing, because a felt sense is more than a body feeling — it's the implicit next step of life forming. We all get felt senses — but we often ignore them, because a felt sense is vague, unclear, and hard to describe at first. How do we persuade our clients to stay with something that feels like "almost nothing”? I've been facilitating felt senses in clients for over 40 years, and in this master class I will show you how to recognize felt senses, how to invite them, and how to help your clients receive the steps of change that occur. You'll be a more relaxed practitioner and see more transformation in your clients and you can add facilitating felt senses to any other modality you are using. You'll learn to: Spot the subtle indicators that your client is having a felt sense Support your client in valuing and staying with a felt sense – at the edge of change Invite your client to move into felt sensing from storytelling or intellectualizing Use unobtrusive prompts that can mesh with any modality or style of therapy or any type of coaching
