This session explores how trauma lives in our biology as well as our minds. It shows up in our cells, mitochondria and metabolism, and it can keep the body stuck in protection long after the danger has passed. Dr. Apigian draws on her book The Biology of Trauma to show how nutrition, nervous system safety and cellular healing work together. You’ll learn why talk-based approaches alone often aren’t enough and how to support the body’s capacity to heal from the bottom up.

What we eat shapes how we feel, think and recover. Dr. Korn shares practical, evidence-informed strategies for using food, blood sugar balance and key nutrients to ease anxiety, depression and the effects of trauma. Rooted in decades of clinical work in integrative medicine, this session gives you simple ways to bring the food-mood connection into your own life and your work with clients.

Cognitive decline isn’t a fixed destiny. Neuropsychologist Dr. Rusk maps out the lifestyle factors that most influence long-term brain health, including nutrition, sleep, stress, inflammation and movement. You’ll learn how to spot early signs that the brain needs support and leave with a personalized plan to stay sharp, resilient and engaged as you age.
Live Presenter: Dr. Ilene Naomi Rusk
4:15 – 5:15 PM

This session is going to focus on the somatic practice of interrupting a food craving to discover its roots. Luis will teach you the paradigm-shifting philosophy from his book Food Therapy that helps you see food through a relational, nervous system lens instead of a healthy or unhealthy binary.
Live Presenter: Luis Mojica
5:30 – 6:30 PM

Many of our struggles with food and body image are nervous system responses rather than failures of willpower. Fiona Sutherland, The Mindful Dietitian, explores how stress, trauma and diet culture shape our relationship with eating. You’ll learn a compassionate, weight-inclusive approach that helps you rebuild trust with your body and find ease, pleasure and attunement at the table.
