About

Dr. Kate Truitt, PhD, MA, MBA is a clinical psychologist, applied neuroscientist, and international educator whose work sits where rigorous research meets real nervous systems—especially those shaped by trauma, chronic stress, grief, and long seasons of survival. She translates complex brain-and-body science into ethically grounded, evidence-based tools that support the full continuum of care: individuals healing in real time, families rebuilding after rupture and loss, clinicians and treatment teams, peer supporters and community leaders, and the organizations carrying trauma-exposed systems.
She is the creator of the NeuroTriad Model and Brain Partnership, integrative frameworks grounded in affective neuroscience, psychophysiology, interoception, and experience-dependent neuroplasticity. Her work examines how threat exposure reshapes circuits tied to detection, regulation, executive function, and relational safety—and how those systems can reorganize through repeated, targeted experiences that restore agency and capacity over time.
Dr. Truitt leads the award-winning clinical practice Dr. Kate Truitt & Associates, serves as CEO of the Trauma Counseling Center of Los Angeles, and is Executive Director of The Truitt Institute and the Amy Research Foundation (501(c)(3)). She hosts the YouTube channel Empowering Brain Smart Mental Health for All and is the author of her memoir Keep Breathing, the international bestseller Healing in Your Hands, and the bestselling Brain Partnership Toolbox.
