Summit: Body as Nature
A one-day on-demand summit on the somatic art of remembering the body as nature
Comprehensive Curriculum
Welcome & Meditation
Dr. Scott Lyons · 30-minute experiential session
An opening meditation and welcome to set the tone for a day of remembering the body as nature.
Session 1 — Fall Gently Into Your Skin
Satu Tuomela · 90-minute experiential session
A return to the more Yin (but still Yang) phase — eliminating what is unnecessary and storing only what is needed. Explore Flow (Yang) within the container (Yin), tap into the alchemical power of the "three lungs" of Chinese medicine, and presence the power of resting in movement. A somatic Yin yoga session welcoming all levels.
Session 2 — Yoking to the Inherent Potency
Tias Little · 90-minute experiential session
Yoke to the inherent life force within — ancient yet always immediate and continuously evolving. Each of us has a signature pulse, rhythm, and flow. Through breath, bloodstream, lymphatic awareness, meditation, and movement, Tias guides students to listen to this sacred pulse, recognize its frequency, and animate its presence. Profoundly restorative and enlivening.
Session 3 — Yoga Through the Elements
Patty Townsend · 90-minute experiential session
We are the ocean, earth, water, fire, and air. We breathe and move within the sea of Radiant Awareness. Through asana and pranayama, breathe and move from the depth of the personal into the universal — exploring with love, sweet vulnerability, power, and compassion for our humanity and our very Being-ness.
Session 4 — Discover Your Elemental Truth
Chara Caruthers · 90-minute experiential session
Ayurveda holds that we are made of the same things as the stars, the moons, the people we love, the food we eat, and the environments we live in. Through this asana class, explore the qualities of the five great elements — space, air, fire, water, earth — within and without. A journey honoring our connection to everything around us, ultimately bringing us home to ourselves.
Session 5 — Tantrik Yoga
Kara-Leah Grant · 90-minute experiential session
Kara-Leah shares the Tantrik Yoga practice she learned from Christopher Tompkins in 2010 — the same one she committed to in a 1000-Day Practice beginning in 2015. This seated practice consists of breath work, visualization, mudras, bandhas, chanting, and meditation. Suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
