ABOUT THIS TRAINING
This 2-part training will guide you through an experiential journey to support your wellness while connected to our online Embodied Yoga community.
This course is open to anyone (i.e yoga teachers, therapists, parents, teachers, etc.) interested in the application of Polyvagal Theory from a multidisciplinary holistic approach. We will use psychology, meditation and yoga to embody these practices and learn to apply them in our everyday lives.
Stress and trauma can lead to imbalances in the physiology of the autonomic nervous system. If these imbalances are left unaddressed, they can lead to mental and physical health problems. Perhaps you are an individual who suffers with anxiety, depression, or the symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Maybe you are a therapist or yoga instructor who works to support the well-being of others. In either case, this course is developed to support you.
Each two-hour gathering focuses on encouraging your sense of connection in a caring online community, offers teaching about Applied Polyvagal Theory in Therapeutic Yoga, and guides you through an experiential yoga practice. You are invited to step into a journey of empowerment, to become the spiritual warrior, and to engage in a quest for wholeness.
LEVEL 2: TRAINING EXPLORATIONS
In Level 2, Dr. Arielle Schwartz deepens our journey of applied Polyvagal Theory in therapeutic yoga with advanced topics that deepen into working with trauma and grief as related to nervous system health. This session focuses on attending to grief, trauma, Complex PTSD, and dissociation in therapeutic yoga. In addition, we will explore how to invite a sense of safety in the body when working with chronic pain or illness.
In order to heal we need to feel safe; but, too often we have experienced relational injuries that can leave us feeling betrayed and distrustful of others. When left unaddressed, our relational wounds can show up in our yoga practice; they can influence how we interact with others and can impair our ability to be compassionate with ourselves.
In Level 2, we discuss the connection between social rejection and physical pain. We explore dissociation and how to bring self-compassion and acceptance to your wounds. We explore how early childhood attachment informs your sense and self and your embodiment. We discuss how experiences of discrimination and racism inform your sense of safety and trust in the world. Most importantly, you will learn tools to work with all of these concerns in your yoga practice and, if you are a therapist or yoga teacher, in your work with others. This session invites you to tap into your inner resilience and to explore your courage to grow and create change, even in the face of adversity.
