The Four Pillars of Healing and Wellbeing

Embodiment-and-Adaptability-by-Tias-Little.jpg

Embodied Yoga Therapeutics applies the principles and practices of yoga in a context of healing, empowered awareness, and tools for physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing. The four pillars of embodied yoga therapeutics are:

  • Applied Philosophy

  • Embodied Anatomy Bodywork

  • Somatic Psychology

  • Ayurvedic Technology

Through exploring these collectively you we gain a more holistic understanding of the potential of yoga as a tool to live life in flow- on and off the mat, enhancing and restoring vitality and connection.

The primary intention of yoga is to enhance the sense of interconnectivity and aliveness and to heal the obstructions that get in the way of the connection within ourselves, to others, and the world around us. Embodiment leads to an experience of being comfortable in one’s own skin and therefore able to engage with life more fully.

Let’s explore a little more about these pillars….

Applied Philosophy

Yoga philosophy is a guide to how we can think and learn to inquire into the depths of who we are. The philosophy of yoga offers clear and methodical systems and practices to lead us to a direct experience of the nature of life.  The philosophical teachings of both the Tantric and Classical eras, are a map that helps us explore the questions:  what are we?   who are we? why are we?.   An embodied approach utilizes  these philosophical maps to guide the exploration and experience of the inherent intentions of yoga- to connect with our true nature.  In this session we will explore how to utilize the wisdom and context of the philosophy to support each person's unique journey of wholeness, connection, and healing. We can also call on the inherent knowledge of the philosophy to foster honesty, bravery and a willingness to see and feel ourselves as we actually are.

Embodied Anatomy Bodywork

Embodied anatomy is a practice of self-inquiry in which tissues, systems and structures of the body are explored through direct experience.  It is a process of bringing together theoretical understanding of anatomical structures with a variety of somatic explorations that support one's ability to sense, feel and move from within. Integrating embodied anatomy into your practice, self-explorations and teaching brings a deeper awareness to each tissue and system of the body, enhancing physiological functions and awakening the body’s innate healing capacities. It’s an insider-out approach to anatomy, optimal movement, alignment, and bodywork.

Somatic Psychology

Somatic psychology explores the historical intersection of eastern origins and modern day somatic therapies.  Through exploring embodied yoga therapeutics through the lens of psychology we identify the pillars of wellbeing and restored vitality. Additionally, we identify the primary tools we use in exploring the mind, and identifying the primary obstacles that get in our way of feeling more fully alive and empowered.

Embodied Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a science of living that rests upon the foundations of yoga philosophy. It's a set of tools and practices that support the realization and expression of our wholeness.  Its aim is to have us understand at every level of our being (mind, body, soul) that who we are is a relationship -- a delicate and ever changing dance between our internal and external worlds.  Ayurvedic wisdom guides us to intelligently inquire into root causes of imbalance (illness and disease), and to use the intuitive knowing of the body to rebalance ourselves throughout the day, year and life.

Bea Rue

Freelance Web & Graphic Designer

Recently I began taking inventory of my life, recognizing the shifts I could make to lessen my personal consumption and impact. Since we spend a quarter of our lives working, that was certainly an area demanding attention. So I left retail and begin my career freelancing for small businesses whose higher purpose transcends profit.

I believe in employing my skills and energy to empower others working to create positive change in our world. I support too-swamped entrepreneurs by breathing life into their brands and websites, allowing them to focus on the important work at hand. At the same time, I get to nurture my own entrepreneurial spirit while being creative and building truly meaningful relationships throughout my community.

I strive to inform, delight and inspire by balancing content with design. I consider the details without losing sight of the big picture. I aim to see around corners while staying focused on the moment. I'm self directed but have over a decade of experience successfully working with teams. And while I've surely got bills to pay, I know it's my social responsibility to be selective about where I put my energy.
