ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
The Psychedelic Renaissance is in full bloom: there is research taking place all over the world, looking at how entheogens can treat a range of conditions including PTSD, depression, anxiety and addiction. Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is becoming part of the mainstream and as a result, there is considerable curiosity about the different medicines and their applications for healing.
In this live & online workshop renegade researcher, Camille Barton will outline why body based meditations and embodiment awarnessnes practices can enhance the stages of the plant medicine journey: preparation for a journey, during a plant medicine experience, post-care and integration.
Each session will begin with body-based meditation and somatic tools rooted in enlivening the body and expanding resilience. Additionally, the sessions will offer an overview and understanding of the following entheogens: LSD, MDMA, Psilocybin, LSD, Ketamine, Iboga, Ayahuasca and Kambo. Camille Barton will guide participants through how to use embodiment practices to ground, support, and enhance working with plant medicines, in the context of psychedelic-assisted therapy.
In addition, we’ll explore some of the historical legacies associated with these medicines, including the impact of colonisation in relation to indigenous access to their ancestral plant medicines, as well as the ongoing harms resulting from the war on drugs. A selection of highlights and developments within the clinical research will be shared, including discussions about equity and access.
In this Master Workshop you will learn:
How to prepare for a plant medicine experience using an embodiment approach.
How to weave somatic practices during and after a plant medicine experience.
How to use body based meditation to optimize healing and integration.
The historical legacies and context surrounding plant medicines in contemporary culture, including the impact of colonisation and the war on drugs.
An overview of the stress response cycle and how to apply embodied techniques to support downregulation or relaxation.
Don’t miss your opportunity to study Psychedelics and Somatics with a teacher at the forefront of this emerging and transformational approach to healing.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Camille Barton
Camille Barton is an artist and renegade researcher working on the intersections of embodiment and healing justice. Camille is the head of Ecologies of Transformation (2021 - 2023), a temporary masters programme at Sandberg Institute, exploring how art making and embodiment can facilitate social change.
Camille is a prominent figure in the emerging field of embodied social justice. Their work combines somatics and trauma informed approaches to explore how oppression, such as racism and ableism, is rooted in the body; and how we can re-pattern it using mindful attention and movement. In 2020 Camille's work was featured in the VPRO documentary, The Post Racist Planet.
Camille also works as an advisor for MAPS, ensuring that psychedelic assisted therapies will be accessible to communities of color, most harmed by the war on drugs. They work closely with Release in the UK on drug policy reform, and in 2018 co-produced RE:GENERATE, an arts festival on drug policy, racial justice and liberation. Camille was the project manager of the Psychedelic Medicine and Cultural Trauma Workshop, hosted by MAPS as a precursor to the first MDMA Psychotherapy training for therapists of color in 2019. Camille has written for Vice, Talking Drugs, the MAPS Bulletin and Double Blind on drug policy & racial justice. They have presented on these issues at conferences including Psychedelic Science (2017), The International Drug Policy Reform Conference (2017 & 2019) and Harm Reduction International (2019) and Psychedelics, Madness and Awakening (2021).
